Hello Friends! Katy here with a little blog post sharing a few of the new felt dies from Spellbinders and Nicole Spohr! Sorry No video today.
I am new to stitching and as you can see from my snowy owl photo, not great at it…lol
But, I really enjoyed it! It was very meditative and I plan to order some more felt and continue to practice. These dies can also be cut out of cardstock, so if you are new to stitching, this could be a good way to learn. That’s what I plan to do until my restock of felt gets here.
I used the new neutrals felt set from Spellbinders in grey, pink, blue and green with some DCM floss in black and grey to do the stitching. I had some white and black felt in my stash that I used for the eyes. I used PVA glue to adhere the eyes and nose.
Since my stitching wasn’t great, I thought I would do 2 more projects gluing the pieces together. This is a great option if you have no interest in stitching.
Here is a card I made using the Candy Cane die. I used PVA (Book Binding Glue) to adhere the felt pieces together. I added double sided adhesive to the back of the candy cane to be able to adhere it to the embossed Brushed White cardstock from Spellbinders. The embossing folder is also from Spellbinders, Argyle Plaid 3D folder. The sentiment is from the Mini Christmas Sentiment Strips Hot Foil Plates. I used matte gold foil on black craft plastic and added that to a strip of gold mirror cardstock. I added a strip to each side of the panel with gold and then added that to a piece of black cardstock to tie it all together.
And last but not least, Gingy…If you are a fan of the Shrek films, you will love this. I wanted to do something a bit different and this is what came to mind.
I used the Gingerbread boy and girl die, cut from the new neutrals collection felt and glued them together. Using a cream, black and purply blue felt I had in my stash, I die cut the icing, buttons and eyes. The pink mouth is from the neutrals collection and I die cut extra icing and trimmed that to make the mouth…the dies that came specifically for that didn’t look right.
I used pinking shears to cut his legs and used double sided adhesive to adhere to the card. I used a rectangle die to cut the center and used foam strips to pop up the frame and create the look of a cookie sheet. I used some bronze/copper metallic watercolor paint for the splatter for the crumbs. I could have added more splatter..haha.
The sentiment I used my Cricut Maker to write and cut the strip, but this is a great opportunity to use the Cricut Joy for less, I linked that below. You could also use your printer and manually cut the strip instead.
That’s gonna wrap it up for me today. I hope you enjoyed these projects. Listed below are products used to create them. Thanks so much for stopping by. My next post is all about an alternate way of using BetterPress Plates, all you need is a stamp positioner and some repositional adhesive. Stay tuned…
